We typically recommend uploading any high quality photo with a 300DPI or more. Generally any photos taken from a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or other high quality point and shoot will suffice. You can check the DPI of an image by right clicking on the image, click properties, and click info to see the exact DPI resolution. iPhone pictures can also be 300 DPI and many of our customers love uploading pictures directly from their photos app.
In terms of format, we accept PNG, JPEG, and HEIC which are the most common image types. If you have a photo in a different format, email us at info (at) framelab.studio and we can get your photo in the right format.
Many of our customers like uploading memories. This could be pictures from your wedding, a date night, a pet's birthday, family, or more. We love helping customers capture and frame their favorite memories online. Once you upload your photo, you can preview how it will look with different frame and mat options, making it easy to visualize the final product and how it will look in your home.

How to Select the Perfect Frame for Your Picture?
What styles of picture frames are available?
We don't offer the most variety, we offer the basics in high quality. There are four options we work with including: Acrylic frames, Classic black and white wood frames, canvas frames, and metal prints. For our wooden frames, we also offer matting options and for our wooden frames and canvas frames, you can also choose the thickness of your frames. We also have written a few articles on the differences between Acrylic Prints, Metal Prints, and Canvas Prints.
How to choose the right size for framed prints?
Choosing the right size for your framed prints is important and can really depend on what you are trying to frame and the desired impact. Start by measuring the wall space where you plan to hang your framed photo. Consider the dimensions of the photo itself; you want to avoid overwhelming your wall or leaving too much empty space around the frame. Feel free to e-mail us and we can provide guidelines and tools that help you determine the ideal size, allowing you to visualize how different dimensions work within your space.
Also make sure you don't forget about the importance of scale. If you’re creating a gallery wall, think about how your framed prints will interact with one another. Mixing sizes can create a dynamic look, while uniformity can provide a more polished appearance. Ultimately, selecting the right size ensures that your custom frame enhances your photo without overshadowing it, allowing your cherished memories to shine.

What makes framed photo prints a great gift?
Framed photo prints are an amazing and thoughtful gift. Last year, I gave my mom a FrameLab framed photo of our family when I was in my last year of business school. It's currently hanging in our living room and a timeless keepsake for our family. A custom-framed photo captures a cherished memory, whether it’s a wedding, family vacation, or a special moment shared with loved ones. By choosing a photo that represents you and your recipient, this thoughtful gesture shows that you’ve put in the effort to create a unique keepsake, making it a memorable gift that will be treasured for years to come.
What are popular occasions for gifting framed artwork?
Framed photos can work for various occasions. Birthdays are a classic time to gift a custom-framed photo, allowing you to commemorate a special year with a photo that reflects times and memories together. Anniversaries also provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate love and companionship through a framed photo that reflects shared memories. Additionally, framed artwork can be a thoughtful housewarming gift, helping friends or family personalize their new space.
Graduation is another occasion where framed photos can shine, celebrating achievements and milestones in a beautiful way. Holidays, such as Christmas or Valentine’s Day, also offer a chance to surprise loved ones with a unique and heartfelt gift. By considering the occasion and the recipient’s tastes, you can choose the perfect framed photo that resonates with the moment and creates lasting memories.
How to Hang and Display Your Framed Photos?
What are the best practices for hanging framed pictures?
Hanging framed pictures can transform your space and create a stunning visual impact when done correctly. Start by determining the ideal height for your frames; a common guideline is to hang them at eye level, approximately 57 to 60 inches from the floor depending on your height. This ensures that your artwork is easily appreciated and creates a cohesive look throughout the room.
Additionally, consider the arrangement of your framed photos. For a balanced display, maintain equal spacing between frames, typically around 2 to 4 inches apart. Use painter's tape to outline where the frames will go, allowing you to visualize the arrangement before drilling holes. By following these best practices, you can create an eye-catching gallery that showcases your custom framed photos beautifully.

How to create a gallery wall with framed prints?
Creating a gallery wall with framed prints is an exciting way to showcase your favorite memories and artwork. Start by selecting a collection of photos that share a common theme, color, or style. Lay them out on the floor or use digital tools to experiment with different arrangements before committing to the wall. Consider mixing frame styles and sizes for a dynamic look, but ensure there is a cohesive element that ties the display together.
Once you have your arrangement, mark the spots on the wall where each frame will hang. Use a level to ensure your frames are straight, and don’t be afraid to adjust the spacing for visual balance. A well-curated gallery wall not only adds character to your space but also serves as a personal narrative that reflects your style and memories.
What decor styles complement custom framed artwork?
Custom framed artwork can complement a variety of decor styles, enhancing the overall ambiance of your space. For a modern aesthetic, sleek acrylic frames work beautifully with minimalistic designs, while bold, colorful artwork can add a pop of personality to any room. In contrast, traditional wood frames can evoke a warm, classic feel, perfect for cozy spaces filled with vintage decor.
Eclectic styles thrive on a mix-and-match approach, allowing you to pair various frame styles and sizes for a unique, layered look. For those who prefer a more rustic vibe, distressed wood frames can beautifully accentuate natural elements in your decor. By choosing frames that align with your decor style, you can ensure that your custom framed photos enhance your space while reflecting your individual taste.
